Piano Accompanist-Part-time schedule to be determined

 

NCA is a Christian College Preparatory School serving grades Jr.K-12.  All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian college preparatory school committed to achieving Academic Excellence, teaching Biblical Truth, and developing Christ-like character"

JOB SUMMARY: New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates, beginning August 2, 2019 through May 15, 2019 (contract renewable annually pending board approval) for the role of Piano Accompanist. The job of Accompanist provides professional musical support for students and instructors, ensure efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules, and ensure efficient use of class time while maintaining a positive learning environment for students.  The position supports the success of the designated music program, provides students with high-quality service and instruction, serves as a role model of professionalism at musical productions, conveys and/or gathers information, ensure adequate materials are available and accurate records are maintained and supports district goals.

This position is approximately 20 hours a week (between 2 campus locations) plus approximately 10 special events that take place in the evenings and/or weekends and some light travel.  These events change yearly however, it could look like the following:  Winter & Spring Concerts (4), District Music Contest (local Springfield), State Music Contest in Columbia (overnight trip), Intermediate Contest (local), Jr. High Contest (Worlds of Fun, Kansas City), and HS Six Flags Contest in St. Louis and other events as applicable.

COMPETENCIES

The candidate will need to audition for this position and be able to site read

Must have the ability to play four part music

Closed and open score

Proficient to accompany both solo and large ensemble performance

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:  Salary is a based on a stipend to be disclosed upon interview.   This position does not qualify for group health benefits.

 

Jr. High (grades 7-8) Communication Arts Teacher

JOB SUMMARY:  New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates, beginning August 2, 2019, through May 15, 2019 (contract renewable annually pending board approval) for the role of Jr. High Communication Arts Teacher.  The role of the teacher is to help students learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christian men and women.

Qualified candidates must have a valid Missouri teaching certificate and hold appropriate certification in the areas of instruction.

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:  Salary base for this position with the required minimum education begins at $33,125.  All full-time teachers are offered medical insurance for the employee, with NCA paying for a majority of the premium. The employee may pay for an additional cafeteria plan for self and family.  Fringe Benefits include:  50% discount in tuition for your own qualified student to attend New Covenant Academy.

 

Intermediate (5-8 grade) Bible Teacher

JOB SUMMARY:  New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for the role of 5-6 Grade Bible Teacher beginning August 2, 2019, through May 15, 2019 (contract renewable annually pending board approval).  The candidate should have personal beliefs and value systems in alignment with NCA's mission and vision statement. Duties include directing the students' spiritual formation, helping students learn and apply Biblical truth, and imparting skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development. Candidates should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in elementary/middle school education, Biblical studies, or related field. Elementary classroom teaching is preferred.

Preferred candidates will have a valid Missouri teaching certificate in 5-6 grade general instruction. Experience in youth ministry preferred.

5-8 Grade School Counselor

New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for a 5-8 grade counselor. This is a newly created position due to enrollment growth.  The position will work at NCA's new Liberty Campus at 3581 S. Kansas Ave.  The contract term is equal to a teacher's school year with 5 extra days.  It is renewable annually pending board approval.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Implement the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program

  • Guide and counsel individual students and groups for the purpose of meeting developmental, educational, and guidance needs. Assist in the coordination of the school testing programs and assure all ethical and standardized test administration procedures are followed.
  • Conduct classroom guidance lessons that contribute to the academic, college/career, and personal/social development of all students.
  • Assist students in making transitions between grade levels. Assist with the admissions process by testing prospective students, evaluating academic records, and conferring with the 5-8 principal regarding prospective students’ potential for academic success.
  • Coordinate the Student Support Team (SST) through the selection, development, and implementation of individual evidence-based academic/behavior intervention plans.
  • Assist in the coordination of Special Education services through the referral process and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP).

Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school community.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:

The School Counselor shall fulfill all of the qualifications for a teacher, and in addition, shall:

  • Experience in counseling methods and/or education
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize, promote, and carry out the comprehensive counseling program
  • Possess an understanding of child development stages
  • Demonstrate an understanding in methods of instruction and training
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a Missouri Career Student Services certificate in school counseling

Certification in school counseling coupled with life experience in youth ministry is preferred over ministry based licensed counseling.

Full-time teacher

Elementary or Early Childhood Teacher for 2019-2020 (grade level to be determined, added position due to growth)

New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Elementary Teacher (could be an Early Childhood focus) beginning August 2, 2019.  The role of the teacher is to help students learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christian men and women.

Qualified candidates must have a valid Missouri teaching certificate with an endorsement in the areas of instruction.

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:  Salary base begins at $33,125 for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree and recent graduate.  The contract for this position begins August 2, 2019, and ends May 19, 2020 and can be renewable annually pending board approval.  Teachers are compensated their full salary in 24 semi-monthly installments beginning in September following hire in August. 
All full-time teachers are offered medical insurance for the employee, with NCA paying for a majority of the premium. The employee may pay for additional cafeteria plan for self and family.  Fringe Benefits include:  50% discount in tuition for your own qualified student to attend New Covenant Academy, reduced cost on lunch served in the cafeteria to the employee, free admittance to NCA sport activities on campus.
 

Technology Support Specialist Immediate Placement

New Covenant Academy is seeking a full-time Technology Support Specialist for immediate placement. This role is the first line of support for end users and handles day to day operations of district technology by identifying and resolving issues with technology related hardware and software. A qualified candidate is a high school graduate with Associates or BA/BS in a related area, has at least 2 years of experience supporting IT and provides excellent customer service in every situation. Experience in a school district setting is a big plus!

Experience in the following areas is preferred:

• Desktop support (MAC OS, Win 7 and 10)
• Experience with Google Chromebooks, G-Suite and Google Apps for Education

• Supporting Windows Servers, Active Directory

• Microsoft Office products

• Networking concepts (LAN, WAN, VLANs, Managed Wireless etc.)

Technology related certifications preferred (A+, N+, etc.)

Full-time and Part-time Custodian

Custodian

 

NCA is seeking two full-time custodians and one part-time custodian.  (Hours TBD).

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Custodian shall…

have a minimum of high school diploma or the equivalent preferred

be literate in English reading and writing skills

be able to physically perform all duties including the lifting of approximately up to 75 lbs., a full range of body motions (prolonged walking or standing and frequent bending, stooping and reaching on a daily basis).

be able to operate electrical-powered cleaning equipment and machines

have a minimum of one year custodial/maintenance experience preferred, which includes knowledge of cleaning, appropriate use of cleaning chemicals and light maintenance procedures

be able to work independently

be able to perform the required tasks

be calm and collected and reflect Christian principles, even in stressful situations

be able to support the Christian mission at New Covenant Academy and lead a lifestyle compatible with NCA standards and policies.

exhibit such other qualifications as may additionally be required by the Board.

pass a federal background check and drug testing

have a valid Missouri driver’s license

REPORTS TO: Facility Building Maintenance Supervisor

JOB GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Facility Building Maintenance Supervisor duties include but are not limited to the following:

maintain designated areas of the building in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition

do general cleaning and trash removal according to a regular schedule

maintain the security of the building

perform other duties as prescribed by the Facility Building Maintenance Supervisor or Chief Financial Officer.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly at-will employee.

Principal Credential Requirements

All principal's employed on NCA's campus must possess a master's degree and hold (or qualify for) Missouri certification as a principal, or the equivalent. Previous administration experience preferred; background in Christian philosophy of education preferred.


Faculty Credential Requirements  

 

For core subjects, all faculty members must hold a certification to teach in the State of Missouri or in another state within the U.S., (or meet the requirements for a provisional certification).  Additionally, they must have a four-year undergraduate degree.

Substitute Requirements

 

Substitutes must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours in order to qualify for substitute teaching at NCA.
