High School Tennis Coach

 

NCA is a Christian College Preparatory School serving grades Jr.K-12.  All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian college preparatory school committed to achieving Academic Excellence, teaching Biblical Truth, and developing Christ-like character"

New Covenant Academy is seeking a qualified seasonal candidate for high school boys’ tennis coach for the following dates Feb 24th – May 30th.

Candidates must be able to fulfill the NCA faith-based Mission, must fulfill applicable qualifications for a teacher, shall by first preference be teachers, and in addition shall:

have experience, expertise, or interest in the particular activity

have the ability to organize the activity

be recommended by the Athletic Director

exhibit such other qualifications as may additionally be required by the Board.

Must meet Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) requirements for a head coach as follows:

Athletic Coaching Levels and Minimum Requirements: a. Head Coach – Minimum Requirements: As per By-Law 3.1.1, each interscholastic team must have a head coach who meets the following requirements and who, then, may fill the duties and obligations of a head coach for the team, both under the sport rule code and in regard to the by-laws. 1. A Four-Year College Degree OR Serving as an Approved Assistant Coach (3.1.4.b) (non-Hardship Coach) for a minimum of TWO school years. 2. A Professional Teacher’s Certificate OR NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course (online) passed prior to coaching. This course is not sport-specific. This is a one-time requirement. 3. Successful completion of a Sports First Aid course prior to coaching and renewed every two years. (See options in Diagram 3.1) 4. Successful completion of CPR/AED training prior to coaching and renewed every two years. (See options in Diagram 3.1) 5. Background Check including Sex-Offender’s Registry Clearance prior to coaching. 6. Board of Education or Board of Governance Approval prior to coaching. 7. Successful completion of a Concussion in Sports Course, and review of current concussion information yearly. 8. Successful completion of the MSHSAA Sport-Specific Online Rules Review each season. BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:   Salary base is a part-time seasonal stipend.  This position does not include employment benefits.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

JOB GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

               

Be familiar with and uphold all school and association guidelines and requirements relating to the activity.

Attend annual rules or other meetings as required.

Establish and supervise team tryout selections procedures.

Plan, supervise, and attend all practices and contests involving the group

Make sure all phases of the activity are in compliance with MSHSAA guidelines and NCA philosophy and guidelines.

Be in compliance with all NCA policies and philosophies.

Develop a calendar of events involving the activity.

Comply with applicable eligibility requirements.

Hold a parent meeting prior to the beginning of the activity season.

Keep parents fully informed about the activity.

Comply with transportation policies established by the school.

Supervise the group at all times while at events, whether home or away, and in transit to and from events.

Encourage students in their academic pursuits.

Make reports as may be required by the Activities Director.

Maintain records as may be required by the Activities Director.

Cooperate with the Activities Director in planning special events.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Annual employment agreement for the activity season according to established school policies.  Renewable each year at the discretion of the Board.     

Evaluation: By the Athletic Director or his designee according to school policies for employees.                  

                               

 

Food Service Worker-Beginning August 5 th, 2019

 

New Covenant Academy is seeking to fill a full-time position in the kitchen Monday-Friday

Duties include:

  • Food Prep
  • Serving
  • Cooking/Baking
  • Washing Dishes/pots/pans
  • Computer Scanning (training provided)
  • Clean up/trash/mopping/sweeping
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Our kitchen crew members come from a variety of backgrounds.  Although experience in the foodservice industry is a huge plus;  we will consider candidates with similar experience. 
Possessing the factors below may enable you to jumpstart your success in this position:
 

  • Knowledge of basic kitchen fundamentals required
  • Customer service focused and oriented
  • Infectious, positive attitude that inspires others
  • Friendly and respectful when interacting with students, teachers and staff.
     
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and sometimes under pressure.
     
  • Ability to work set schedule, with the flexibility to work some unscheduled days asneeded, up to 40 hours per week
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
     
  • Ability to be a team player with good communication skills with co-workers.
     
  • Must be able to stand and walk for periods of four to five hours in length, each shift
     
  • Being in good physical health is of great benefit for the physical demands each day
  • brings.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, balance and transport various objects weighing up to 30lbs. repeatedly during a shift. While the following is rare, it may be necessary to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Piano Accompanist-Part-time schedule to be determined

JOB SUMMARY: New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates, beginning August 2, 2019 through May 15, 2019 (contract renewable annually pending board approval) for the role of Piano Accompanist. The job of Accompanist provides professional musical support for students and instructors, ensure efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules, and ensure efficient use of class time while maintaining a positive learning environment for students.  The position supports the success of the designated music program, provides students with high-quality service and instruction, serves as a role model of professionalism at musical productions, conveys and/or gathers information, ensure adequate materials are available and accurate records are maintained and supports district goals.

This position is approximately 20 hours a week (between 2 campus locations) plus approximately 10 special events that take place in the evenings and/or weekends and some light travel.  These events change yearly however, it could look like the following:  Winter & Spring Concerts (4), District Music Contest (local Springfield), State Music Contest in Columbia (overnight trip), Intermediate Contest (local), Jr. High Contest (Worlds of Fun, Kansas City), and HS Six Flags Contest in St. Louis and other events as applicable.

COMPETENCIES

The candidate will need to audition for this position and be able to site read

Must have the ability to play four part music

Closed and open score

Proficient to accompany both solo and large ensemble performance

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:  Salary is a based on a stipend to be disclosed upon interview.   This position does not qualify for group health benefits.

Full-time and Part-time Custodian

Custodian

 

NCA is seeking two full-time custodians and one part-time custodian.  (Hours TBD).

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Custodian shall…

  • have a minimum of high school diploma or the equivalent preferred
  • be literate in English reading and writing skills
  • be able to physically perform all duties including the lifting of approximately up to 75 lbs., a full range of body motions (prolonged walking or standing and frequent bending, stooping and reaching on a daily basis).
  • be able to operate electrical-powered cleaning equipment and machines
  • have a minimum of one year custodial/maintenance experience preferred, which includes knowledge of cleaning, appropriate use of cleaning chemicals and light maintenance procedures
  • be able to work independently
  • be able to perform the required tasks
  • be calm and collected and reflect Christian principles, even in stressful situations
  • be able to support the Christian mission at New Covenant Academy and lead a lifestyle compatible with NCA standards and policies.
  • exhibit such other qualifications as may additionally be required by the Board.
  • pass a federal background check and drug testing
  • have a valid Missouri driver’s license

REPORTS TO: Facility Building Maintenance Supervisor

JOB GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the supervision of the Facility Building Maintenance Supervisor duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • maintain designated areas of the building in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition
  • do general cleaning and trash removal according to a regular schedule
  • maintain the security of the building
  • perform other duties as prescribed by the Facility Building Maintenance Supervisor or Chief Financial Officer.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly at-will employee.

Principal Credential Requirements

All principal's employed on NCA's campus must possess a master's degree and hold (or qualify for) Missouri certification as a principal, or the equivalent. Previous administration experience preferred; background in Christian philosophy of education preferred.


Faculty Credential Requirements  

 

For core subjects, all faculty members must hold a certification to teach in the State of Missouri or in another state within the U.S., (or meet the requirements for a provisional certification).  Additionally, they must have a four-year undergraduate degree.

 

Faculty Benefits 

 

The following benefits are offered to full-time faculty at New Covenant Academy:  50% discount in tuition for your own child to attend NCA (pending they meet admissions requirements); all fees must be paid by the employee.  Medical benefits are offered the employee with a majority of the premium paid for by New Covenant Academy.  Employees may add dependents at their own expense.  Optional cafeteria plans are offered at the employee expense.  A reduction in school lunch price is offered to the employee for their own meal service.  Free admission to all home sports games.  Part-time faculty: may receive a pro-rated discount in tuition for their own child to attend NCA.

 

Staff Benefits

Substitute Requirements

 

Substitutes must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours in order to qualify for substitute teaching at NCA.
