Curriculum

New Covenant Academy offers its youngest Warriors, a rich developmental learning experience taught by state-certified instructors, specific to Early Childhood Education.  Students have a core assigned teacher who is with them for the majority of the school day. This allows students to develop a trusting and caring relationship with their teacher.   In addition, students are assigned co-curricular instructors for art, and music who have earned state certifications and/or have a high level of experience in their area of expertise.   Pre-K. Teachers are on the same salary scale as Elementary Teachers. Therefore, we experience less turnover than what is often occurring in the early childhood general market.

Materials

The curriculum used takes a thematic approach to pre-academic skills (in the alphabetic principle, phonemic awareness, writing, math, science, community, and social/emotional development,  It is called the “Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum” which is in alignment with the State of Missouri Early Learning Standards and published by early childhood educators, speech pathologists, and occupational specialists Julie Ornes, Shirley Patterson, Dana McMillan, Jackie Thomas, and Eva Trumbower.

NCA Core Early Childhood teachers work to embed and integrate the Bible and a Biblical worldview as an authentic and organic part of the learning process using both teacher-created and curriculum resources published by the Association of Christian Schools International Purposeful Design.

Handwriting is developed and taught using the Zaner-Bloser style.
