MIDDLE SCHOOL ART:
7th grade/8th grade --meets 2-3 times a week for 45 minutes
COURSE CURRICULUM:
Each month or quarter will have a different theme that includes an element or principal of art along with an artist, time period, or culture. These themes will have Biblical integration, reflect events at school, relate to certain times of the year, or might even be interdisciplinary relating to other topics the students are learning in other classes. Students will have their projects framed and displayed in the hallway where they will all participate in art critiques. Each student is expected to learn the proper art vocabulary to explain their opinions of any work of art in a professional manner. Students may also be asked to explain the thought processes behind their work and defend their project or point of view to the class.
All secondary students will be able to use a provided rubric to score their own work in 5 different categories: Following Directions, Materials Used, Effort, Time Management, and Craftsmanship. The students make comments about what they thought about the project or why they deserve the score they gave themselves. I will review their grades, give my score for their work and write some comments.

“Creating a picture of a landscape is like God creating the heavens and the earth.”
-
“Once we accept Christ, He makes a stamp or an imprint of his love on our hearts. As we grow as a Christian we develop different layers that make our spiritual life more complex and developed.”
