Jr.K-4th Grade Music
Rhythm and Vocal Choral Activity

ELEMENTARY FINE ARTS

Elementary music at NCA is an integral part of the student’s day.  Students are introduced to music fundamentals such as rhythm, age appropriate reading of music and theory as well as performace techniques which provide solid foundational skills later built upon as the students matriculate throughout the grades.  Students routinely perform at a spring and Christmas concert as well as special opportunities such as: Grandparent's day, the Annual Fundraising Banquet or other such special events.

MRS. HARMON'S PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

My purpose and goal as a music teacher is to produce musicians with the understanding and motivation to give music an important place in their lives and in their communities.  I believe that music has the power to produce aesthetic experiences, and aesthetic experiences are a valuable aspect of human life.  I also believe that music is a great form of multicultural education.  Much can be learned about a culture through its music.  I have a passion for music, and I want to share that passion with my students.  As a Christian educator, I believe I have a responsibility to see that children are raised with an understanding of God's Word and plan for their lives.  I very much enjoy working in a setting where I can have opportunities to incorporate the Christian World View into the curriculum.
