New Covenant Academy’s Spanish program offers Spanish to students grades 5-12. Intermediate students (grades 5 and 6) have Spanish class three times per week in 30 minute sessions for a semester each year. Middle school students have Spanish class as one of their daily subjects for a quarter every year.
In high school all students are required to take Spanish I and II. After completing the two-year requirement, they have the option of taking Spanish III and then Spanish IV the following year. These two advanced Spanish classes are also part of the dual credit program through Missouri State University. Students will receive six hours of college credit (SPN 101 and SPN 102) upon the completion of Spanish III and six more hours (SPN 201 and SPN 202) upon the completion of Spanish IV. All Spanish classes develop skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
