Position Title Job Summary
Part-time librarian/media-specialist

Part-time Librarian/Media Specialist

 

New Covenant Academy is seeking a qualified candidate to run the library approx. 9-10 hours a week and teach technology/media lessons to  Jr.K-3rd grade students which is another 9-10 hours per week; beginning on August 7, 2017.  This is a 10-month contracted position, renewable annually based on board approval.  Salary is pro-rated based on the full-time teaching salary schedule.

The preferred candidate shall 

  1. hold a teaching credential in the State of Missouri or another state within the United States, and have the ability to teach basic technology skills to young students.
  2. have experience in library work
  3. have the ability to organize the Library
  4. have knowledge of technological applications as they relate to library work
  5. exhibit such other qualifications as may additionally be required by the Board or
    Administration.

Responsibilities of the Librarian include:

  • Maintaining and expanding the normal collection of print and non-print Library materials according to Board Policy;
  • Providing users (students and/or staff information literacy instruction, training to become self-reliant users of information resources and technology including ethical use, and reading guidance and motivation through literacy lessons.
  • Access to resources which support classroom instruction.
  • Knowledge of the availability of appropriate library materials.
  • Use of interlibrary loan to access needed materials not in the building collection
  • Assistance with location and access of sources and information within sources, including Internet
  • Circulation of library resources, through check in, check out, shelving, holds, etc.
  • Developing and maintain the library program including: selecting, ordering, processing, cataloging, inventorying, weeding or removing, and repairing.
  • Maintaining patron records including maintaining up-to-date patron data base, notifying students and staff of overdue materials, collecting fees for damages and lost books
  • Maintaining professional resources for teachers and involving them in purchasing decisions
  • Fostering an atmosphere which encourages student and faculty usage
  • Develops, administers, and manages programs and facilities for the use of information resources and technologies.
  • Promotes the appropriate use of online resources
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers in the preparation, presentation, and evaluation of units or assignments that utilize information technology resources
  • Assisting staff and students with strategies for intellectual access to information and ideas for learning (finding, judging, and using information) that they can use within and beyond school settings
  • Providing information and instruction in areas of information literacy, the Research Cycle, Acceptable use Policy, ethics, intellectual property and copyright, and use of instruction educational technologies
  • Promoting the integrated use of technology as a learning tool


 

Part-time Extended Care Workers

Part-Time Extended Care Workers

 

New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified and dynamic individuals to work with students in grades Jr.K-7 in the before and after school program.

Duties include:

  1. Provide a safe atmosphere for all children.
  2. Provide activities during the Extended hours as scheduled.
  3. Keep accurate records of those attending Extended Care .
  4. Maintain controls on the arrival and departure of children attending Extended Care , according to school policy.
  5. Report time charges for Extended Care as requested by the Business Office.
  6. Maintain accurate time sheets for pay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Fulfill the general qualifications for employment at NCA.
  2. Previous experience in a child care setting is preferred.
  3. A demonstrated love for children and a vibrant Christian testimony.
  4. The ability to lead a variety of activities.

Substitute Teacher

Substitute Teacher

Minimum qualifications include the spiritual and personal qualifications for a teacher, a bachelor's degree or the equivalent, or at least 60 hours of college work.  Background checks within a period of 1 year must be on record.

JOB GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In general, substitute teachers are expected to perform all of the duties of the teacher they are replacing, including any scheduled extra duties, unless specifically excused or directed otherwise by the principal.

Substitute teachers will generally be employed on a daily basis, at the prescribed daily rate according to school policy.  Paychecks will be issued, following completion of the required substitute teacher form, at the next pay day according to established school policy.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly employment according to established school policies.  This is an “at-will” position, and employment for a time does not guarantee continued employment.

Bus Driver

Bus Driver

Bus drivers must hold a CDL with a school bus driver endorsement valid for the period of employment and must be willing to submit to a drug test on employment and during the term of employment as requested.

JOB GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain safe transportation conditions while driving the bus.  Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, as requested, and report any deficiencies to the Secondary Principal immediately.  Operate the vehicle within the guidelines established by law and by NCA policy.  Assist in the supervision of students: while on the bus, the bus driver is the final authority regarding procedures, safety, and related transportation issues.  Reports of irregularities are to be made immediately to the Secondary Principal.  Maintain such records as are requested, including trip logs and time sheets.  Such other duties as may be assigned by the Secondary Principal.

Principal Credential Requirements

All principal's employed on NCA's campus must possess a master's degree and hold (or qualify for) Missouri certification as a principal, or the equivalent. Previous administration experience preferred; background in Christian philosophy of education preferred.


Faculty Credential Requirements  

 

For core subjects, all faculty members must hold a certification to teach in the State of Missouri or in another state within the U.S., (or meet the requirements for a provisional certification).  Additionally, they must have a four-year undergraduate degree.

 

Faculty/Administrative Benefits 

 

The following benefits are offered to full-time faculty at New Covenant Academy:  50% discount in tuition for your own child to attend NCA (pending they meet admissions requirements); all fees must be paid by the employee.  Medical benefits are offered the employee with a majority of the premium paid for by New Covenant Academy.  Employees may add dependents at their own expense.  Optional cafeteria plans are offered at the employee expense.  A reduction in school lunch price is offered to the employee for their own meal service.  Free admission to all home sports games.  Part-time faculty: may receive a pro-rated discount in tuition for their own child to attend NCA.

Substitute Requirements

 

Substitutes must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours in order to qualify for substitute teaching at NCA.
